P.K. Subban had a great quote on Jack Hughes' OT winner for the Devils

You know hockey season is right around the corner when the preseason starts and Monday night, the first overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft made a great first impression with his new team, the New Jersey Devils.

Jack Hughes wins it for the Devils in OT, 4-3. Could see that developing from a mile away. Effortless with the way he moves and handles puck. These kids that are coming up are just so ridiculous.

Jack Hughes scored twice, including the OT winner, for the Devils and he earned some high praise from his teammates.

Connor Carrick on Hughes: "His feet know what his hands are doing, his hands know what his feet are doing and his eyes are able to know what everyone else is doing."

Apparently he also got some words of wisdom from P.K. Subban before the extra frame which seemed to motivate him to score that winner.

Subban on Hughes winner: "I take credit for his OT winner b/c prior to the OT, I said to him 'I heard the rumor that you get 1 gl & then shut it down, so are you full or do you want more?' He told me, 'that's not me'. He scored the winner, so he's already listening & learning."

Leave it to P.K. to keep things light and and breezy for the kid. In all seriousness, the Devils had to have loved what they saw from not only Hughes, but players like Subban and Nikita Gusev.

Yes, it's only one preseason game, but New Jersey made a number of big moves this summer in the hopes of a return to the postseason and we're excited to see if they'll pay off.
