At this point, no one really knows what's going to happen with the rest of the 2019-20 NHL season.

Many are hopeful the league will be able to resume play and while there's still hope, that doesn't appear to be happening any time soon. Both fans and players have shared their suggestions for how the NHL should close things out and one specific format suggested by New Jersey Devils forward P.K. Subban is making noise.

During an appearance on ESPN's First Take, Subban re-iterated his desire to see a 31-team playoff format. it's worth noting that the Devils currently sit 26th in the league with 68 points and are 13 behind Columbus for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

#Hockey fans... thoughts?! 🤔 @subbanator

Making a playoff push down the stretch might be pushing it a bit... but the Devils did manage to go 6-2-2 over previous ten games.

So this wasn't the first time Subban suggested this, but he does seem to be a bit more serious this time around. He had this to say after Alex Ovechkin expressed his opinion that the NHL should start the playoffs as soon as action resumes.

Nice try @subbanator 😂😂

Hey, good on you P.K., but... the likelihood of this happening doesn't seem very high. Who knows!
