With the recent cold snap hitting Eastern Canada over the last month, hockey players across our nation have been the beneficiary of frozen lakes and ponds.

Even if you're not a hockey player, you can still appreciate the tranquility of a frozen body of water that allows for the perfect outdoor playing surface.

While this technically isn't an outdoor rink per se, Joey Speers, an Instagram video producer, has captured some breathtaking footage of himself skating on a frozen Kennisis Lake just north of Haliburton, Ontario in the Haliburton Highlands from just before the calendar turned over.

"Since I was three I’ve been waiting for the lake at our place to flash freeze, wrote Speers on his Instagram caption.

"Conditions have just never seemed to fall into place the way I’ve dreamt it to. I struggled to sleep last night after yesterday’s thaw and knowing the temperature was dropping quick. Waking up to this beautiful clash of weather and a little fresh snow was so special. Man this is what gives me life. It doesn’t get better than this folks."

Skating on a frozen pond or lake is one of the greatest feelings of natural euphoria one can ever experience, and just watching that video alone will certainly get your endorphins running.

If you have any videos of yourself skating on a frozen lake like the one Joey shared, send us the video on Instagram at TSN_Official or BarDown, or fire us a tweet at @BarDown, and we might just share it on one of our platforms.
