On Monday, the family of Colby Cave made their return to North Battleford, Saskatchewan after his tragic passing following a battle with a brain bleed at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital.

As the Cave family returned along Saskatchewan’s Highway 16, locals organized a show of support: Over 15km of cars lined up along the shoulder of the highway in tribute to Cave. Many brought posters, jerseys or other artwork in Cave’s honour.

It’s truly heartwarming to see such a strong turnout to show support for Cave, but this is what the hockey world does: They’re there for their own.
