Alexander Ovechkin is one of the more fun-loving players in the National Hockey League, so it’s no surprise that he likes to dabble in other sports now and again.
In the past, we’ve seen Ovi participate in charity basketball games, play soccer with his teammates and many other displays of athleticism, but this is the last one we’d expect him to perform in. Ovechkin has spent most of his life in Russia, where American Football isn’t very popular, so we would assume the sport wouldn’t come too naturally to him, but we’re putting our foot in our mouths.
Ovechkin on the other hand, is putting his foot on the ball – kicking field goals with ease.
That video is from his Instagram story and as you can see he labelled it as being from 30 yards out. We’re not sure if the endzone is CFL or NFL style (We would assume NFL), so it could be even further. Either way, the kick seems to clear the uprights with ease so he could definitely go a couple yards back as well.
Considering his 6’3” 240 lb. frame, we never pegged Ovi as a kicker. He already loves to hit, so with his size it seemed to be a perfect fit as a linebacker – but you can’t argue with results.
Still, we prefer the alternate universe where Ovechkin is a 3-point specialist (And definitely a volume shooter).
