What. A. Save.
With the Washington Capitals leading 3-2 late in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, an awkward bounce gave Vegas Golden Knights forward Alex Tuch a seemingly wide open cage with two minutes left in the game. But out of absolutely nowhere, Holtby managed to sprawl out and get a piece of his paddle on Tuch’s shot.
With the Capitals seeking their first win in Stanley Cup Finals history, no one appeared to be more nervous than Caps captain Alex Ovechkin. His reaction from the bench after the save was absolutely priceless.
Ovi wasn’t the only one in disbelief. Those watching the action couldn’t believe it either.
If the Caps do in fact go on to capture their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, this save will likely be remembered as one of the greatest in NHL history.
Wow.
