Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals finally did it and for the Caps and their fans it was nerve racking until the very last moment.
They didn’t have to play an elimination game against the Penguins, but the team had to go to sudden-death overtime in Game 6. It seems like the perfect moment as Sidney Crosby is stripped of the puck and Ovechkin grabs it, skates up the ice and then feeds Evgeny Kuznetsov for a breakaway.
All anyone in the arena other that Matt Murray and Kuznetsov could do is watch and Ovechkin explained to Pierre McGuire what was going through his head.

Almost everybody is on the same side for this one. Ovechkin is so easy to root for in this scenario because the Penguins have had so much success against them despite Ovi’s greatness. You never want to see a generational player like him go without a Cup, so it’s good to finally see him get past the roadblock that has been there his entire career.
Maybe it’s finally Ovi’s turn.
