It was April 6th, 2018, when the hockey world plunged into darkness. A bus crash carrying 29 Humboldt Broncos team members and staff collided with a transport truck, taking the lives of 16 and injuring everyone else on board. It is one of the single most tragic events to ever hit the hockey world.
With Saturday marking the one-year anniversary, it is important to remember and reflect on the crash itself, and the first year of recovery. While the event brought irreparable damage to the lives of many, it also brought an inspirational amount of support and rallying from the entire hockey community, and country/world in general.
If you haven’t already, make sure to check out the TSN Original “29 Forever”. It is an emotional rollercoaster, but an important one to embark on. The link can be found here.
With the one year anniversary memorial schedule happening Saturday night, we take a look at some of the kind words and thoughts reflecting on the crash, and the tough recovery process that’s followed.
With one year now removed from the tragedy, we can only hope the pain continues to ease. Nothing will ever be the same, but the importance of remembering, reflecting, and coming together can never be downplayed. No matter where you’re from or who you cheer for, we are all Humboldt Strong.
