For the next two days, everyone in the NHL is going to be focused on the pitches being presented to John Tavares, including NHL players.

We’ve already seen members of the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders enter and exit Tavares’ agency to make their presentation, but the teams that remain may have some extra tricks up their sleeve. Earlier this week, one reporter even speculated that “The entire team is on board to make it happen”.

Now people are starting to assume that players may actually be involved in the meeting after Evander Kane shared this tweet:

Kane did play with Tavares during what may have been the greatest World Junior moment in history (Jordan Eberle’s goal against Russia) and eventually secured a goal medal together. He’s really not alone in that connection though.

Eberle is on his current team, the New York Islanders who are obviously involved in his decision, he played with the Leafs’ Nazem Kadri on the London Knights and played with Jamie Benn, Brad Marchand, Patrick Marleau, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Steven Stamkos, Joe Thornton, Logan Couture, Patrice Bergeron, Tyler Seguin and Brent Burns at other international tournaments.

Tavares will have no shortage of former teammates to choose from, but so far, San Jose might be the first to involve one of them in the meetings. We’re sure Tavares has received no shortage of messages from his peers though.
