It’s always a big honour when a team decides to immortalize a player by setting up a tribute display in their arena. For Olli Jokinen, it wasn’t quite as thrilling.
Jokinen is the Florida Panthers all-time leading scorer with 419 points (although Jonathan Huberdeau should be taking over that title pretty soon). As a result, you’d expect a proper display honouring the longtime Panther.
Unfortunately, it’s a little lackluster. Jokinen’s wife Katerina had no problem calling the Panthers out for it.
There certainly could have been a LITTLE more effort put into that. In fact, Katerina goes on to explain that the jersey isn’t even the most appropriate one.
Overall, the response has been very supportive of Jokinen, and very much in aggreeance that the current display isn’t enough.
