Has anyone ever assimilated into a brand new team quite as seamlessly as Joe Thornton has with the Toronto Maple Leafs?
The veteran playmaker is a legend in the NHL, but he’s also one of those guys that is essentially universally liked. Similarly to how his longtime teammate Patrick Marleau joined the Leafs and immediately slipped into somewhat of a paternal role, Jumbo Joe has had no problem fitting right in with the young guns.
It seems like every “fun” thing to come out of Leafs Land this season has something to do with Thornton. Add “Willy Styles” to that list.
On Monday, one of William Nylander’s sticks went viral on social media when it was spotted by David Alter that “Willy Styles” was written instead of his name.
After the game, TSN Leafs Reporter Mark Masters asked Nylander about the nickname. Is it a surprise to anyone that Thornton had everything to do with the name?
