Number changes in the NHL tend to happen when players sign with a new team or are traded, but they can also happen if a player is feeling like they need to change it up.
On Monday, William Nylander was that player that decided to change things up as he took to Twitter to announce he'll be rocking a new number this upcoming season and going forward.
Not only is Nylander making the switch from No. 29 to No. 88, but he's also doing a solid for any Leafs fans that have a jersey with his old digits.
Hats off to Nylander for looking out for Leafs fans who want his new number on the back of their jersey. Also, maybe a switch to his old number and a full summer with the Leafs this season will lead to a bounce-back year.
