Anyone that grew up playing hockey likely had to deal with 6am practices or games. Sometimes, when you’re sleepy-eyed and trying to get ready, there simply isn’t enough time (or energy) to make a full breakfast.

Much easier just to open the cupboard and grab a box of cereal.

Maybe this is the reason why so many hockey players have been featured on cereal boxes. Heck, even the Mighty Ducks’ Team U.S.A. squad was fictionally featured on a box of Wheaties!

Cereal and hockey have become so closely aligned that a number of NHL stars have even released their own signature cereal. Most recently, Brad Marchand was featured as the subject of “March Munch,” a moment that Marchand himself called a dream come true.

To celebrate Marchy’s dream come true, we’re looking back at those ahead of him to be featured on a box of everyone’s favourite milky breakfast.

Wayne Gretzky: While his name isn’t included as some cereal pun, ProStars was Gretzky’s signature cereal.
