Robin Lehner signed a 5-year, $25 million contract on Saturday to remain with the Vegas Golden Knights. After appearing to win the trust of coach Pete DeBoer during a stellar, four-shutout postseason run, Lehner is rewarded with a hockey bag full of money.

For Lehner, this is some stability he hasn’t had in the league in a long time.

Since opening up about his struggles with substance abuse and mental health, Lehner has won over a lot of fans as an inspiring story of redemption. On top of that, he brings a unique personality to the game, and lately he’s been playing incredibly well. All of that combines to make a very likable player.

It didn’t take long for Lehner to break his silence following his big signing. He shared out a three-tweet thread thanking fans for supporting him, while bringing up an even more important conversation in the process.

How can you not cheer for this guy.
