Nelson Cruz is a big man, one that you would not want to see charging at you in anger.
Well, pitcher Derek Holland was in that unfortunate position on Sunday, after he drilled Cruz with a pitch. Lucky for him, Cruz never actually charged the mound, he just faked that he was going to twice on his way to first base.
Sometimes, even this would be enough to start something in baseball, but the two were teammates for five seasons in Texas, so it was likely all in good fun.
Still on both ends of this, it must have been a scary moment for Holland, and it still probably didn’t feel too great for Cruz.
With the two clearly still being friendly, we kind of wish they pulled off his amazing mound charge from the South Korean KBO league. Hugging it out after an aggressive mound charge is one of the more unexpected outcomes we’ve ever seen in a baseball game.
