It’s clear that Ndamukong Suh has a great deal of respect for Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, but he’s not willing to admit that he got the best of the Rams' defence.
Edelman was ultimately awarded Super Bowl LIII’s most valuable player award after collecting 10 receptions for 140 yards. On a night in which essentially no offence was produced by either team, Edelman managed to collect more than half of Rams quarterback Jared Goffs’ total yards (229). But Suh believes his defensive unit still shut him down… kind of. He contradicted himself while discussing his performance, stating that Edelman managed to find holes in the defence but was ultimately contained.
Uh… Come again?!
The Rams’ D still deserves a ton of credit despite Edelman’s performance. The wide receiver failed to score and Sunday night marked the first Super Bowl in which legendary quarterback Tom Brady was held without a touchdown. Suh finished the game with two tackles and zero sacks in the 13-3 defeat.
Strangely enough, Suh wasn’t the only Ram to make a head-scratching comment after the game. Left tackle Adam Whitworth was, well, pretty blunt after his team’s loss. Guess he raises a point?
The game lacked excitement but at least there were a couple of memorable quotes that came from it.
