On Sunday, NASCAR invited 1,000 South Florida service members, first responders, and family members, to be some of the first fans to watch a race from the stands.

Social distancing has been practiced for months now in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, resulting in a hiatus of almost all sports across the world.

With everyone collectively striving to flatten the curve, quarantine has been lifted in most parts of the world with careful rules in place to ensure safety as a top priority.

Fanless stadiums have been a topic of discussion when considering the safe return of sports, however, simultaneously a major worry when it comes to the element of the game.

NASCAR has spent the past few months following the no spectator guidelines but on Sunday invited a small group to Homestead-Miami Speedway to watch the race.

Of course, there were provisions in place. The fans underwent health screenings before entering and were required to wear face masks and social distance by six feet at all times.

Next Sunday, up to 5,000 fans will be allowed to attend the GEICO 500 at the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.
