Mookie Betts might be the biggest steal from 2011 MLB Draft as the Boston Red Sox selected the Nashville, Tennessee native with the 172nd overall pick in the draft.
After spending his first year and a half with the big league club trying to find his rhythm and adding to his game, by his second full season, and third in MLB, he had fully evolved into an All-Star right fielder as he broke out with a career year by posting 31 home runs, 113 RBI and 26 stolen bases, to go along with a .318 batting average and a .363 OBP.
The two-time MLB All-Star was mic’d up for his team’s spring training game of the year on Tuesday afternoon and he added some hilarious colour commentary to the game when a hard-hit ball by Kris Bryant sailed right over his head in the outfield.
The crew in the ESPN booth couldn’t help but laugh at Betts’ reaction to the big hit, but it didn’t end up costing his team anything as the Red Sox managed to keep the Cubs off the board.
