It's not uncommon for hockey players to have nicknames, especially a variation of their name that ends in "ie" but they're probably not used to it coming from a reporter.
Marner looked like he went through all of the emotions at the same time. He was shocked, surprised, confused, and had a good laugh but he wasn't the only one, even Frederik Andersen was just as confused when he heard Mitch's new name at their post-game conference on Tuesday.
