Summertime presents a great opportunity for NHL stars to come together and raise money for their respective charities.
Whether it's ball hockey tournaments, Fornite fundraisers, or golf events, most players tend to let their guard down somewhat and show off their more social sides at these type of events.
Mitch Marner, who's coming off an impressive 69-point (nice) sophomore campaign, is hosting the first-annual Marner Assist fund, a three-day event that strives to "create sustainable change for children and youth by providing resources that will make a significant impact on their futures."
Fans attending the event will get to partake in mini-games coached by NHL players, and participate in all sorts of fun activities with proceeds going to "make an assist for the kids."
At the event, Marner showed off a custom pair of True hockey skates with an illustration from Fortnite printed onto them, courtesy of our friends over at TSN 1050 Toronto, who were live on location from the event in Vaughan, Ontario.
Pretty snazzy. We know Marner and his Leafs' teammates are big fans of the popular video game, and this only confirms that. Imagine if he wore these in a game.
Multiple members of the Leafs came out to support their teammate and the fundraiser, as well as former Leaf Matt Martin.
Way to go to everyone involved!
