Michael Grabner is one of the more unique players in the National Hockey League because he’s able to contribute in niche areas that not many other people can.
Grabner is a great penalty killer and goal scorer, which is where almost all of his value lies. He is a perennial contender for a stat-line that closely resembles a cy-young award winner because almost all of his points come from goals. Just look at the past couple of seasons:
2017-18: 27G, 9A
2016-17: 27G, 13A
Most of his ability relies on speed which gets him a lot of breakaways (Which explains why he scores so many goals). His hands and shot aren’t as well known and fans are linking that to the curve he uses.
There are a lot of unique curves and tape jobs in the NHL that have a lot of fans confused, but as we’re sure Grabner would tell you that it’s worked out pretty well for him in his career. He has scored 158 goals in his career.
Plus, it can’t be harder to use than Ryan O’Reilly’s curve.
