Canada found themselves in quite the defensive battle with Finland in the quarterfinals of the World Juniors, but thanks to an outstanding performance by goalie Michael DiPietro, Canada managed to hold their own against the Finns.
Late in the second period of the game, the Vancouver Canucks prospect stood on his head a few times to help keep his team on top and the fans showed them how much they appreciated his performance by chanting his name throughout the arena. As a result, it turned into a pretty emotional moment for DiPietro’s mother.
The 19-year-old bounced back from Canada’s 2-1 loss to the Russians on New Year’s Eve in an extremely massive way and the fans made sure he knew just how much they appreciated his effort.
