The Chicago White Sox were the first team in Major League Baseball to add protective netting throughout their stadium and it came in handy in a big way on Thursday.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez smoked a ball down the right field line, but it was no match for New York Mets utility man Jeff McNeil, who used the protective netting to his advantage to make the play.

We’ve seen players slow down as they get closer to the stands on plays like this because they’re nervous about flying into the crowd and hurting themselves and fans, but McNeil had some fun and went all out on the play once he noticed the net.
