Team Canada took care of business on Monday evening when they managed to take down Switzerland at the Women’s World Hockey Championship and advance to the Final. It’s one step closer to potential glory, but they’ll have to get past the Americans to get there.

For Melodie Daoust, it’s also one step closer to something even more important – getting to hug her son Matheo again.

Since entering the Calgary bubble, Daoust hasn’t been allowed to be in close contact with Matheo out of COVID-19 precautions. While she can’t physically touch her son, she did share some very cute moments from opposite sides of the glass. After scoring two of Canada’s four goals against the Swiss, the mother and son shared an awesome moment.

Following the game, Daoust was asked about the moment. She explained how excited she was to hug him again, after being away for what she estimates to have been around 40 days.

We’re sure it will be quite the reunion no matter what, but it would be a little extra special if Daoust had a gold medallion hanging around her neck for it.
