Tonight’s the night.
After a long, long wait, Toronto Maple Leafs forwards Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner will finally make their Nutcracker debut. Fans have had the 19th on their calendar for weeks now and will star in the production has Cannon Dolls. As the two gear up for the evening, they were asked about the big event following their morning practice and Matthews pretty much delivered the most millennial answer imaginable.
Don’t trip Auston!
Matthews has played in some HUGE games throughout his NHL career but it seems like he’s never felt pressure quite like this before. He claimed he couldn’t sleep last night and that he simply “doesn’t want to ruin the play.” Come on Auston, have some confidence!
Auston and Mitch can at least find some comfort in knowing that they’re not the first big names to perform in the show. A list of celebrities have already participated including TSN’s very own James Duthie and Darren Dreger. They didn’t do half bad either!
We’re sure that everything will settle down for the two once they’re up on stage. Besides, it’s not like they haven't performed in front of 15,000 + fans before.
