Matthew Tkachuk was the subject of one of the more violent plays of the 2019-20 NHL season on Saturday night, but he didn’t seem too bothered by the whole thing.
After delivering what appeared to be a clean hit on Oilers forward Zack Kassian (he was not penalized on the play), the latter retaliated by dropping his gloves and dragging the turtling Tkachuk around like a ragdoll. Kassian was ultimately awarded a game misconduct and wasn’t happy at all with the way things panned out, but Tkachuk insisted that if Kassian doesn’t want to get hit, then he should “stay off the tracks.”
Whose postgame comments were better?
Think we can all agree both were pretty animated!
Tkachuk didn’t seem to have any interest in fighting Kassian either, saying that it would be “a tough little trade off” if the two were to go to the box. Ouch.
Kassian will have a hearing with the NHL’s Player Safety Department on Monday but hey, at least the Battle of Alberta is back baby.
It’s back!!!!
