The NHL will be welcoming a new brother to the league in less than a month, and the family members are already having some fun before the 2018-19 season kicks off.
Brady Tkachuk, son of former NHL star Keith, is set to be drafted – likely in the top 10 – in this June’s NHL draft. Brady showed well in the pull-ups section of the combine yesterday, impressively finishing with 12. The NHL’s Twitter account attempted to get the pot boiling by asking Matthew if he could out-do his younger brother. Surprisingly, the older sibling admitted he wouldn’t be able to keep up.
Brady and Matthew’s rivalry was showcased earlier in the year, this time coming around the World Junior Championships. When asked if he could take his bro on in a fight, Brady insisted he would come out on top. His parents apparently agree, too.
Both brothers can at the very least be proud of the fact that they can post more pull-ups than some other notable NHLers. Matthew’s teammate Sam Bennett, along with Buffalo Sabres forward Casey Mittelstadt, each failed so register a single one at their respective combines.
We can’t wait to see what kind of magic unfolds when the two square off against each other for the first time on pro ice.
