Matt Duchene thanked the Avs and their fans for the tribute in his return with heartfelt tweet

Friday night, Matt Duchene made his return to Colorado for the first time since being traded to Ottawa last season.

It was a night he and Avalanche fans had been waiting for since the trade happened and the team and fans gave Duchene a tribute he'd never forget. After the game, Duchene took to Twitter to thank the Avs and their fans for the tribute.

A heartfelt tweet from a player that got to live out his childhood dream of playing for his favourite team growing up.

Duchene had a great game in his return, too, as he scored twice for the Senators, but Ottawa fell 6-3 to the Avalanche as Colorado's top line dominated in the win.
