When Mats Zuccarello signed a two-year, entry-level deal with the New York Rangers, it’s unlikely that anyone thought he would become so beloved in the empire state. Nine years later, he’s receiving a lengthy, emotional ovation in the legendary Madison Square Garden from one of the most proud fan bases in the game of hockey.

Zucc isn’t necessarily a star player, but he was consistently good for the Rangers, even in some of the tougher years. He also developed a friendship with longtime goaltender Henrik Lundqvist that is stronger than most we see in professional sports. In fact, when Zuccarello left it brought King Henry to tears.

No doubt emotions were running high when Zuccarello was acknowledged at MSG.

It’s always nice to see a player playing for a new team, but still loved just as much by the team he played on before.

We aren’t crying, though... YOU’RE CRYING…
