After spending the past three seasons as the assistant general manager of the St. Louis Blues, Martin Brodeur announced a split with the team earlier this month, as he sought to pursue new opportunities.

For a while, hockey fans weren’t sure what that meant for the legendary goalie and soon-to-be Hall of Famer.

Now we know, as Brodeur has announced a new role that reunites him with the team that he so famously minded net for. Yes, he’s back with the New Jersey Devils, as he’s signed on to be the team’s executive vice president of business operations.

It's official: The #Devils are bringing #Brodeur back. 👀

In a release, the team said that Brodeur “will work across all departments to identify, capitalize and develop on business opportunities for the Devils, Prudential Center and the outlying community.”

While some fans may prefer to see Brodeur in a role related to hockey operations, such as the one he held with the Blues, the opportunity to return Brodeur to his old stomping grounds in any capacity is sure to excite fans — and there appears to be plenty of room for community outreach in his new role.

Brodeur isn’t the only part of Devils history to make a return to the team for the upcoming season, as they’ll also bring back these sweet vintage jerseys that reintroduce green to the palette.
