During his time in the NFL, Marquette King was known for his big leg and his spunky personality. It made him a quick fan favorite, because let’s face it, not many punters got amped-up the way he did.
King now finds himself punting for the St. Louis BattleHawks, and he still has an uncanny ability for pinning the other team deep.
Against the Dallas Renegades, King had a jaw-dropping punt. It somehow bounced perfectly to the one-yard line, and it should have made the Renegades start their drive backed up to their own endzone. ‘Should have’ being the keywords…
What makes this play even better/more painful to witness, is the reaction from former NFL punter Pat McAfee. He simply can not comprehend how the special teams player could carry that football into the endzone.
It’s truly a baffling play that would drive any punter up the wall, but the reaction by McAfee is yet another reason for the excitement behind the XFL.
