We’ve seen it a few times recently, in fact we saw it last week, when players are spotted just before or soon after a big football game sporting some kind of mask.
It was no surprise to see New Orleans Saints star running back duo Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram sporting ski masks following their big divisional round win over the Philadelphia Eagles. It wasn’t just an intimidation factor, it was spite.
Basically, they’re reclaiming what they consider to be their tradition. We’ve seen Alex Okafor sport the masks, we’ve seen Michael Thomas do the same. After some Eagles players decided to make the act their own, the Saints wanted everyone to know just who started that.
It helped that they were fresh off a sweet elimination of those very Eagles.
While it was done out of spite, we actually prefer the much more hilarious act pulled off by the Los Angeles Chargers social media team. After the Baltimore Ravens entered their Wild Card game against the Chargers with masks on, someone went to the trouble of making the necessary adjustments following the game…
The Chargers got eliminated by the New England Patriots Sunday afternoon, which is almost a shame considering just how much their social team had been killing it lately.
