It's not uncommon for hockey players to adopt certain 'traditions' from other players and we've already seen that happen in the Stanley Cup Final.
Earlier in the playoffs, Alex Ovechkin introduced the 'hot lap' to the hockey world and he does before the team starts its practice. Jonathan Marchessault of the Vegas Golden Knights saw Ovi's practice tradition and decided to borrow it.
As per Dan Rosen of NHL.com, Marchessault saw Ovi do it during the Western Conference Final against Winnipeg and he did it before Game 2 on the road against the Jets.
Vegas won that game and Marchessault has done a hot lap before practice for road games ever since.
Clearly hockey players are superstitious and if the Golden Knights win Games 3 and 4 on the road, the hot lap might carry over to next season for road games for the Golden Knights. (H/T: Dan Rosen)
