Marc Bergevin has definitely had an up-and-down relationship with the Montreal Canadiens’ fan base. Some stick by the General Manager, while others are quick to call for his head on a lot of the news out of the Habs’ camp.
One move that was definitely a move to remember for Bergevin is when he dealt P.K. Subban to the Nashville Predators for Shea Weber, straight up.
Subban was beloved in Montreal at the time, and he was playing some really good hockey. The move was met with a lot of criticism, but over time it’s become clear; Montreal won that trade, and it hasn’t been particularly close.
On Sunday, we got a glimpse at a new commercial from the barbeque maker Weber. In it, Bergevin (speaking in French) plays into the famous trade by saying “I’ve always known that Weber was the right choice.”
Translation: "I’ve always known that Weber was the right choice."
It’s not the first time the barbeque maker has played into the Subban/Weber trade. Back in 2019, Subban himself played into the gag by allowing himself to be pictured and plasterd up on a billboard where he’s ironically declaring his love for his “Weber.”
Keep ‘em coming, Weber. Maybe get Shea involved next if you can !
