The Nashville Predators are one of the most active franchises in all of sports when it comes to community initiatives and their involvement in the community increases year after year.
The Preds recently returned home from a three-game road trip where they went undefeated and clinched a spot in this year’s postseason. With some time off on Tuesday and Wednesday before the team’s next game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night, the Preds did something special for a young fan on Wednesday afternoon.
Through the Nashville Predators Foundation and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Predators came through for Devin Roque, an eight-year-old currently battling cancer, and turned his Preds-themed wish into the ultimate reality by signing the youngster to a contract on Wednesday morning.
After inking his deal with the Preds, Devin was treated to a tour around Bridgestone Arena, took part in the team photo and even got a chance to join the guys on the ice where he got to take shots on Pekka Rinne.
We already knew that Devin was a tough little guy and he proved that on the ice with the Preds as he dropped the gloves with Roman Josi and held his own throughout the little scuffle.
Devin also got to enjoy lunch with the entire team and will get the full VIP experience on Thursday night when he attends the Preds’ game against the Maple Leafs. However, he won’t be making a typical arrival as the young Preds fan will be arriving in an 18-wheeler courtesy of Thompson Machinery.
We always love seeing teams and athletes come together for fans like this. For every life they change, they gain a supporter in many different ways.
