The NHL is gearing up for another outdoor game on Saturday, and this one is going to be particularly cool. It’s being played right next to Lake Tahoe, so it’s sure to be picturesque, but it also features a few unique elements.
It will have a special tribute to frontline workers, and also feature a brand new song from punk elder statesmen band Green Day. Another element that’s unique to Lake Tahoe is the golf course in which Joe Sakic famously drilled a hole-in-one of the 17th green. Obviously this had to be used…
In celebration of the Avs’ general manager achieving an ace, the NHL has pledged to donate $1 million is current Avs’ star Nathan MacKinnon can repeat the feat. The money would go towards the NHL/NHLPA Learn To Play campaign.
When Sakic accomplished the feat, the $1 million he received from the celebrity tournament was split in half, with $500K going to the Lance Armstrong Livestrong campaign for cancer research.
