He doesn’t have a blue verified checkmark by his name on Twitter, but Roberto Luongo is one of the best in the game when it comes to his online presence, even if he isn’t the most active player on social media.
The 39-year-old picks and chooses when he wants to have a voice online, and when he does it’s usually something golden. On Wednesday night, the six-time All-Star broke his Twitter silence for the first time since September 26 and, you guessed it, it was fantastic.
With the Florida Panthers set to pay a visit to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night, the veteran goalie decided to reach out to the team to see if they would consider sitting two of their top four scorers for the contest since they put in quite the workout at the National Ballet of Canada.
The Maple Leafs didn’t respond to Luongo’s request so you can expect to see Matthews and Marner in the Maple Leafs’ lineup on Thursday.
