Florida Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo has enjoyed an illustrious NHL career, appearing in numeorus All-Star games and coming within a single game of Winning the Stanley Cup in 2011. Today, the Montreal native is sidelined with a Grade 1 MCL injury but he’s still being honoured for playing in 1,000 career games ahead of tonight's home contest against the Canucks, an impressive milestone with extra significance for an NHL goaltender. When asked about how he was able to achieve it, the always hilarious Luongo gave credit to the not-so-healthy side of his diet.
For the record, Luongo is of Italian ancestry to perhaps that’ll help you make a bit more sense of his answer!
If you think Bobby Lu is the only NHLer who enjoys carb loading then you’re seriously mistaken. Can you recall Alex Ovechkin’s ridiculous pregame meal that also includes a good dose of pasta?
The appetites on these dudes is just too nuts!
When you consider Luongo’s success throughout his career, it doesn’t make much sense for him to shake up his diet going forward.
