We’ve been reminded a few times during these NHL playoffs about the importance of having a home crowd in the playoffs, especially at Nassau Coliseum.

The Isles only won two of their eight meetings with the Penguins during the regular season, so unless you’re an Isles fan you probably had the Pens coming out of their first round series. But now it’s the Islanders getting ready for the second round, and Lou Lamoriello made sure the fans knew their support was very much noticed.

The Islanders expect to have 12,000 fans in attendance for every home game in the series, so they released the letter from Lou Lamoriello on Friday evening and highlighted the importance of getting vaccinated in order to get the building as loud as possible for the team’s run.

New York’s second round series with the Boston Bruins gets underway on Saturday night in Boston. The Isles took five of the eight meetings with the Bruins during the regular season, but Boston picked up its three wins by winning each of the final three games during the season series.
