The Toronto Maple Leafs let go of Lou Lamoriello and two years later he has won the GM of the Year Award.

In May of 2018, the Toronto Maple Leafs chose Kyle Dubas over 75-year-old Lou Lamoriello to be their general manager. Lamoriello was snatched up fairly quickly once the Leafs decided to fire him after three seasons as the Toronto Maple Leafs general manager.

After the decision, leafs fans were excited for the bright future they believed they had, instead, they have yet to win a playoff series.

Meanwhile, Lamoriello made some huge decisions that have led the New York Islanders to the Eastern Conference Finals of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, a little bit of a sting for Leafs fans.
