After exploding onto the scene with an awkward looking release, a loud and proud father, and a 2nd overall draft pick tag attached, Lonzo Ball seems to have settled into NBA a little bit.

The aforementioned father seems to be fading from the spotlight after being right smack-dab in the centre of it just two years ago. While his goal of getting Lonzo onto the Lakers did in fact pan out (temporarily), another very public venture didn’t go quite as well.

By now, we all know about the Big Baller Brand, and most likely know the crash-and-burn of the brand, as well as the families falling out with “BBB”. The plot dug a little deeper on Wednesday when Lonzo revealed there were more issues than just the handling of money and the marketing campaigns, apparently the shoes themselves didn’t work… at all.

Lonzo’s sarcasm was not lost on anyone when he mentions in a “not-such-a-coincidence” kind of voice that he has been a better player since ditching the problematic shoes. With a much slimmer chance of twisting an ankle, he may be able to focus on his game a little more.

If he is in fact a new and improved version of himself, you can bet he’ll be wanting to prove it on the court. The team he fought so hard to be a part of traded him to the New Orleans Pelicans this offseason where he will team up with fellow young star Zion Williamson.

Zion is no stranger to the shoe-rip either… somebody get these guys some working shoes!
