Penguins captain Sidney Crosby notched the overtime winner on Saturday night in the Pen's 3-2 victory of the New York Islanders.
Down 2-1 in the third period, newly acquired centre Derick Brassard made his mark on his new club by tying the game up with at 11:29 of the third period to send the game to overtime.
Phil Kessel notched two assists in the win and became the sixth American to reach 400 career helpers in the NHL.
3:48 into the overtime session, Crosby took an outlet pass from Justin Schultz and sprung in on a 2-on-1 with Conor Sheary. Crosby faked a pass to Sheary, and rifled a snap shot through the legs of Islanders goaltender Christopher Gibson, who made 48 saves in the loss in what was his first NHL start in almost two years.
Thanks to Twitter user @PongChmp, we have this great reaction from a young Pens fan celebrating Crosby’s 22nd goal of the season and the win in his car.
Just check out his reaction as he sees Crosby head into the Isles zone on the odd-man rush, and then the goal itself.
Now that’s adorable. Look how excited he was to tell his father. Let’s just hope the dad was pulled over and wasn’t distracted filming his son.
