It is an exciting time for Canadian tennis. The pipeline is richer than ever, and young talent are starting to show out in the ATP and WTA circuit. Between the rise of Felix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov, and the continued work of Milos Raonic, men’s tennis is huge in Canada. Genie Bouchard continues to try and re-discover her prior dominance, while Bianca Andreescu is still one of the best women tennis players in the world right now.

Add Leylah Annie Fernandez into the mix, too!

Fernandez has made some noise in Doubles brackets, and she’s begun to really prove herself in singles as well. On Sunday, the Laval, Quebec native defeated Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland 6-1, 6-4 to claim her first WTA title at the Monterrey Open.

Fernandez was met with a very warm reaction on Twitter as Canadians everywhere geared up for an exciting future in tennis.
