It’s the NBA Finals, so it’s safe to say emotions are running high. For the Miami Heat, those emotions are confidence, redemption, and hope after a huge Game 3 victory to bring the series to 2-1. For the Los Angeles Lakers, it’s frustration.
With the Heat missing two key players in Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo, many were writing off the team before the game even tipped off. On the back of a huge Jimmy Butler performance, they found a way.
With the game already decided and the final seconds ticking off the clock, an odd situation unfolded when the Heat had their final playclock expire with 0.7 seconds left in the game. This meant that the Lakers had to inbound the ball to kill the final fraction of a second off the game clock, but there was one problem – they didn’t have enough players.
LeBron James looked up at the clock and saw that the game was over, so he turned and began walking to the dressing room with 10 seconds still on the clock. When the shot clock expired and the Lakers were already leaving the floor, there was an awkward few moments where four Lakers stood around on the court and waited for one more teammate to join them.
The question on everyone’s mind was whether this was done on purpose out of frustration or if it was genuinely just a mistake. When asked directly, LeBron said it was both.
