The original Space Jam film from the 90s was one of the great cult classics of that era, and fans been eagerly awaiting a long-rumored sequel since.
After a September tweet from the SpringHill Entertainment production company, we know that Space Jam 2 is happening, and that it is happening with LeBron James in an on-screen role. (LeBron is the founder of SpringHill Entertainment.) However, details have been scarce then.
Until now. With the NBA world gathered in Charlotte for All-Star Weekend, LeBron gave an update on the progress of Space Jam 2, with hard news that is sure to excite fans — filming will begin this summer.
If filming begins this summer, then perhaps that means we’ll see Space Jam 2 in theaters around summer of next year. The movie Uncle Drew, which filmed during the summer of 2017 to factor in Kyrie Irving’s offseason, was released in June 2018. If Space Jam 2 tracks a similar production schedule, then it may not be long until fans can see it for themselves.
Today is also the 56th birthday of one Michael Jordan, so we have to wonder, will Jordan appear in Space Jam 2? The possibility remains alive.
