During the Cleveland Cavaliers win over the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night, LeBron James paid homage to one of his heroes growing up by commemorating the 29th anniversary of his MLB debut.
Back on April 3rd, 1989, the world was introduced to Seattle Mariners slugger Ken Griffey Jr.
29 years later, LeBron James recognized Griffey by wearing a custom pair of LeBron 15’s, and they're pretty damn sharp.
It’s pretty cool to see King James recognize Griffey, the backwards-hat wearing home-run machine that managed to stay away from any steroid scandals while playing in the MLB’s “steroid era.” Griffey is ranked 7th all-time in home runs at 630, and retired at age 40 back in the 2010 season after 22 seasons in the bigs, with 13 of those coming in Seattle.
It's too bad the Supersonics aren't still in the league, otherwise you'd be hearing about all the LeBron to Seattle rumours right about now. Game recognize game, as they say.
