Multi-sport athletes, you’ve got to love them!
So when LeBron James told the Athletic’s Christopher Kamrani and Bill Oram that he not only would have tried out for the NFL but he would have made the team, we can’t help but imagine how insane it would have been to see LeBron on a football field.
As James was aged 26 at the time, his confidence in himself and his abilities years after leaving the sport is pretty remarkable, per the Athletic.
“I would have made the team. I would have tried out, but I would have made the team. One thing about it, I don’t mind working for something, so if I would have had to try out for the Cowboys or the Seahawks, or if I’d have stayed home and went back home to Cleveland, I’d have tried (out), but I would have made the team. I just know what I’m capable of doing on the football field. Especially at that age.”
During the NBA’s 2011 lockout, LeBron had received an offer to play from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, as well as an invitation and jersey from Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.
We’ll be honest, we are totally thinking of the possibilities of LeBron’s football career had he decided to stick with football in high school rather than to go the basketball route.
During his time at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School in Akron, Ohio, James was an all-state receiver, securing 27 touchdowns under his belt which drew the attention of both Ohio State and Notre Dame.
So yeah, we guess you can say LeBron was PRETTY GOOD at football.
Imagine if LeBron had attended those NFL tryouts or even took the hometown approach as he did with the Cavaliers by joining the Browns?
Thinking about Joe Thomas and LeBron James on the same team is actually kind of a lot to process, but we actually love it?
We won't lie, we feel like we were robbed in a sense. LeBron James breaking it into the NFL after almost a decade of not playing the sport would have broken the sports world.
