One of the biggest arguments in all of sports, one that will likely never end, is the GOAT argument in basketball.
The GOAT – or Greatest Of All Time – is a tossup between two frontrunners that are miles ahead of other contenders. Sure, you’ll get some Kobe’s in there, and a case can certainly be made for Wilt Chamberlain, but there are two names that appear in every single GOAT argument there is in basketball; LeBron James and Michael Jordan.
The problem is, they played in different eras. Many MJ supporters argue that Jordan takes the edge based on the toughness needed to play in the old days. LeBron supporters will scoff and argue that the game is faster and more skilled than it used to be.
It doesn’t matter who is arguing, this debate will never be settled. Saying that, LeBron chimed in recently and explained one career-defining moment that he believes solidified his status as ball’s greatest player.
This is sure to ruffle a few feathers, but it’s kind of refreshing to hear LeBron vouch for himself. He knew how significant it would be to say that he’s the GOAT, and he did so with conviction.
Either way, the debate will likely rage on the eternity or until someone even better comes along and takes it unanimously.
