John Tavares is a Toronto Maple Leaf and his new teammates couldn’t be happier.
Leafs players (and others) gathered together in Toronto last night to support Mitch Marner’s All-Star Invitational, where they made time to address the signing with the media. Despite running the event, Marner made sure to make himself available and shared some pretty flattering words about the his team’s new all-star.
Mitch of all the Leafs players should be the most excited about Tavares’ arrival. The two will likely be a force together on Toronto’s second line for years to come, alongside either Zach Hyman or Patrick Marleau. Not a bad addition if you had to ask us!
Marner wasn't the only player to discuss the new signing either. Auston Matthews also explained his role in recruiting Tavares back home.
With Tavares in the fold, Toronto is now arguably the deepest team at centre in the league. If you take a look at the Chicago Blackhawks, Los Angeles Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins teams in recent years, all of them were incredibly strong down the middle, (just a friendly reminder). There’s no doubt that Tavares and the Maple Leafs will be one of the more intriguing teams to watch in the upcoming season.
