On the ice, Laura Stacey is best known for her speed, her grit, her Olympic experience, and that time she scored an overtime winner to win the Clarkson Cup for the CWHL’s Markham Thunder.
In short, the 26-year-old’s on-ice resume is about as good as they come.
What some people might not know, though, is that her off-ice resume is just as fantastic.
Stacey has her own charity, LS7, which hosts an annual LS7 Sticks In For Charity Road Hockey Tournament. Of course, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament’s usual June date is impossible.
This didn’t stop Stacey from wanting to make a difference, though. She shifted her focus from the tournament’s usual goals and set her sights on helping frontline workers stay safe while battling the spread of the virus.
Bauer has also shifted their focus to providing PPE for medical workers, and as a Bauer-sponsored athlete, Stacey was able to help out in a big way.
With the help of many notable faces in hockey and frontline workers, Stacey launched the #StayInSticksIn campaign on social media, and through it, was able to donate 510 much-needed Bauer PPE masks to Toronto’s SickKids hospital.
Endless stick taps for this amazing initiative!
